Does anyone know if there is a way to use PARSql on an ipaq. I'm looking at setting up a system for the PE department so they can take registars on the playing fields using a PDA. Just wondering if anyone had done anything similar.

I've set up PARS on a windows mobile device. Fairly straightforward though to be honest i didn't test it very much, just wanted to see if it was possible. Theres a server process that you need to start and a cab file to install PARS on the device.
I don't suppose you can remember what the cab file and server process were called can you?
Just thought, i assume you are have PARS.net?
If so theres an option to install the TCPserver in the ordinary PARS setup. The cab file is pocketpars.cab which should be in the same folder as th PARS setup program (PARS\WSSetup on our system).
We haven't deployed pars.net yet, we are still running it's predecessor. If it's that easy to do it with PARS.net I think we may be advancing to it sooner than planned.
Thanks for your help.
I've taken a look at the PARS .net manual, and followed the instructions for setting up pars on a PDA. My PDA is an ipaq 5450, running windows mobile 2003. All I need to do is install the pocketpars.cab file, which i did and run the program.
I get this error.
A managed NullReferenceException occurred at Module1::MAIN+0x3a9
Module1::MAIN+0x3a9
OK to terminate.
Any one got any idea's what that means?
I had a similar problem when I tried - can't quite remember if it is quite the same or not. Firstly, presumably you are talking about PARS.net not SQL? There's updates every few days from TASC, make sure you have downloaded and applied the current update and use the PocketPARS.CAB from the directory on the server. This is what I did and it worked fine. Don't forget to install the TCPServer somewhere also.

Yeah, it's pars .net, i've installed it on my laptop and noticed that it's version 1.93
there is an update to 1.98 on the website so i might try that.
also sent a support ticket to tasc.
Just looking over my old help tickets, it was version 1.88 that sorted it out for us. Anyway, their support is very good IMHO.

I got a reply back from tasc, just what I thought, install the update to 1.98 and pocketpars went on. now if i could just get it working over a wireless connection it would be even better.
(maybe I should get activesync working over wireless first)...
