What we have:
• We have SIMS.NET, with Behaviour / Merit module (but not yet using)
• SIMS Web Parts for our Share point VLE
• A Way to store merits in SIMS / or Own SQL Database for Web Reporting (fancy graphics / charts)
My Questions:
Does anyone use house points / merits with any type of IT integration / management
Does anyone use SIMS behaviour module / merits?
Does anyone use it to provide challenges amongst houses (win prizes etc?)
Does anyone use webpage update of current house points (EG. My earned house points, total of all house points, other house points) – live status style?
Anyone thinking about implementing such a system….?
I think in today’s society of pupils using Bebo / Facebook / MySpace / etc we need to grasp pupils attention in a way they relate best- often online. The SMT at our school want to make more use of the merit / behaviour system to promote good work and provide a improved team spirit amongst pupils.
We use SIMS to record behaviour incidents. We are in the process of phasing out paper discipline slips altogether so staff will enter directly into SIMS and heads of year/form tutors will run reports (or have them run for them) to manage that area. I do keep saying to SLT we also need to implement the achievement side of SIMS. If a student is put on report for bad behaviour this will also be done through SIMS in Sept. after a successful pilot this term.
the behavioral management part of sims has also has achievements. you can customise these lists giving each item a "point" score. at the end of the year you can run a report totaling the number of points by each house. works well, but was a pain getting the staff to add the details initially.
