Yeah we have. I can;t remember how. What error message are you getting? I think we copied over some DLL's from an XP machine.

In the end i found the right kb article on capitas website and i had to create the bde databse manualyl for it and tell it to create it in a different folder as vista doesnt let you create files in the root of the c drive apparantly.

We've moved to MS SQL 2k5 and we have to do the above patch.

We've had a real run around setting up FMS on a new PC - I couldn't believe that you still need to install BDE even after the move to SQL - typical &%&%&% SIMS

I suppose this is because you still have access to the old version, which to use the log fix to make it so you are unable to write to it, the red background.

You should be able to get away with skipping this... on paper away

We don't have to install BDE here on new FMS installations since we moved to SQL.

Have you got an idiot install guide you could let me see - as this "advice" came straight from the Capita support desk, when we were failing to get a new install working.

    Cheers

I second that guys - how can we install FMS without the BDE stuff? Trying to install FMS onto a Vista machine (contrary to capita's recommendation that the user must have local admin for it to run) however getting the error when loading any of the focus screens. We have narrowed it down to FMS trying to delete and recreate the C:\pdoxusrs.net file however the Vista OS prevents ANYTHING in the root of C:\ being deleted UNLESS you have local admin/power users. Not even having full control of all files on C:\ as a normal user will allow you to delete files (a security improvement over XP).

So in essence, we need to do an FMS installation without the BDE crap installing. Seeing as though everyone is using SQL now we shouldnt even need the BDE crap!

Never mind just found it - KB72329 for people who dont want to give users any sort of admin rights just to run FMS!

Also, for FMS to run on Vista - you need the FMSVistaFix001.zip file
