SIMS.net 7.104 on x64 with Office Problems
Hi All
We are having some issues with SIMS.net.
We have it installed on Citrix PS 4.5 (x64 bit platform) and it has been running fine up until the May release.
Since then the Student Profiles no longer work. When you click on View it says 'Cannot find Office Path'. This is rather odd as it used to work.
HOwever if you go into the the report section and run a report it opens Word fine.
We are using Office 2003. I hav tried re-installing Office, SIMS.net and upgrading to Office 2007 on the Citrix server, still no joy.
Is there a setting within SIMS.net which states the office path? I'm thinking that SIMS.net is looking for office within the 'Program Files' folder rather than 'Program Files (x86)'??!
Anyone got any ideas? Starting to get a bit fed up with it now!!

7th June 2008, 12:01 PM #2 If SIMS is looking for Office in C:\Program Files, why don't you create a junction point pointing from C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office to C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office using the following tool.

Just tried that - sadly had no effect.

7th June 2008, 06:07 PM #4 It shouldn't be looking in a specific place for Office. I can't see a case in Somerset's queues so if you haven't done so please raise one. We aren't testing on 64 bit yet but we will try to assist.

7th June 2008, 11:03 PM #5 Worth checking the v of Office 2003's sp, Capita recomend Office 03 sp2 but I have found Office 03 sp3 generally OK.
Get it from Windows update under Microsoft Office Family. It fixed an issue with reports and Assessment for me recently.
Capita's advice for this error generally (though no support for x64) is to make sure Office 03 is installed. To this end it could be you need to uninstall/reinstall Office, especially if you have had an different version of Office on this PC - it could be a registry issue.

I've tried reapplying the SP3 patch and it still makes no difference - I have now logged a call with Capita to see if they can find out anything.
