Anyone use Truancy Call?
Hi
We are thinking about getting Truancy Call. I was wondering if anyone uses it and what sort of affect it has had in your schools? Also, any horror stories? I have read in one thread on here that their server goes down rather too frequently!
Any comments would be great!

29th February 2008, 10:30 AM #2 We use truancy call, and call parents. We have had no problems with it, the attendance officer goes through all the absences through her computer when she has sent them automated messages asking why their son/daughter is not in. She loves the software.
Easy to use and easy to setup.

Great - just asked for the in-school DEMO so just waiting to hear back from them now.
Have to say that the majority of school comments I have seen have been positive and very few seem to have experienced problems.

Its tends to break more than I'd expect here, silly things such as losing the proxy settings for no reason at all. I'd say we have problems at least once a month with it, though it's behaved itself a bit more lately.

29th February 2008, 01:14 PM #5 Yes we use it, on the whole it's fine. More problems as a result of teachers not marking the register correctly than anything. Their server doesn't go down much at all really. Fair comment about it occasionally losing proxy settings etc.

Ditto
We could'nt get CallParents to work properly at all for a month after we installed it (it would only send one text message) . They insisted it was something on our network that was preventing it from working until I assured them that it couldn't be since it sent the first one OK. Turns out they'd put a limit on for a demo and not taken it off after we bought it.
Also the SIMS user I setup for TruancyCall didn't want to work with CallParents and I had to create a new one. (I use a limited account that only has access to what it needs to do.)

Especially as staff mark the register wrong all the time.

Despite getting continually slapped by SLT they still mark them wrong so we have a person that does pretty much nothing else but check them and correct them. She also does TruancyCall.
