I've recently done the upgrade to 2005 Express and notice that the 2000 MSDE service is still running. Is this still needed for anything? I need to keep MSDE for other things, but can I safely stop the SIMS service, and - ideally - uninstall the SIMS MSDE database if it is still there?

Me too with no problems.
A heads up on something I forgot to check though - if you automate backups of the database by batch file make sure you now backup the new databases and not the old ones as I did for a week or so. D'oh

27th February 2008, 02:55 PM #6 Same here - using Nova T4 as well.
I disabled the SQL2000 service initially but later just removed all trace of it. Only hangover was some redirector service which didnt work properly anyway - just ended up modifying the connect.ini file.
