    Old SIMS SQL Services

I've recently done the upgrade to 2005 Express and notice that the 2000 MSDE service is still running. Is this still needed for anything? I need to keep MSDE for other things, but can I safely stop the SIMS service, and - ideally - uninstall the SIMS MSDE database if it is still there?

I disabled it straight after the upgrade without any effect on the running of sims, havent bothered to uninstall it as yet though.

Are you using any of the older things like Nova-T4?

Nothing in SIMS will use the older service after you have upgraded.

    Me too with no problems.

A heads up on something I forgot to check though - if you automate backups of the database by batch file make sure you now backup the new databases and not the old ones as I did for a week or so. D'oh

Same here - using Nova T4 as well.

I disabled the SQL2000 service initially but later just removed all trace of it. Only hangover was some redirector service which didnt work properly anyway - just ended up modifying the connect.ini file.
