Adding new staff in SIMS .NET

Have any of you guys seen a problem where an administrator is unable to add a new member of staff?

The browse feature works fine but the New... option is greyed out...

    Any ideas?

You say "administrator" but are you sure that account has the releveant system manager permissions in SIMs?

    Hi Chris

As far as I can tell the user is setup as a full system administrator...

Is there any easy way to check permissions?

It would be nice to find something easy to do in Sims...

Probably just a rights question - remember that even the admin-level accounts in SIMS don't necessarily have all the rights you might expect them to.

Nick is quite right. A system admin person would not have automatic rights to see staff data which is highly confidential. You need to be assigned rights to see/amend staff data.

    Thanks for the suggestions folks...

I thought it was a rights issue but the user in question is the system manager for SIMS.

After calling our SIMS support team it turned out that we needed to have a patch applied to fix this...as usual we had to ask before we found out about this patch...

I'd love to follow this up because a patch should not be needed.

Are you sure you're using Personnel 7. Pre personnel 7 new staff have to be added in the personnel 5 and then get copied across into SIMS.net. Staff can be viewed in .net but not edited
