SIMS Bulk Import - Not logging in

    Hello,

We are trying to get SIMS Bulk Import to work.

We are getting stuck at the Login Page! We enter the details of an SQL user (we usually use AD Authentication) and press Login and nothing happens - no error - nothing.

I think the server details are in correctly, because when they were wrong it produced an error.

This is what we get in the log file:

**SERVER** = the name of our SIMS server. Removed 'just in case'.
**USERNAME** = the SIMS User (not AD) we're trying to log on with. It's only 2 characters, could that cause a problem?
    Code:
    2014-09-04 11:17:19.6908|Debug|**SERVER**09\SIMS2008
    2014-09-04 11:17:19.6908|Debug|Sims_**SERVER**
    2014-09-04 11:17:19.6908|Info|Connect.ini directory: C:\Program Files\SIMS\SIMS .net
    2014-09-04 11:17:19.7378|Error|System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException (0x80131904): Login failed for user 'Sims_**SERVER**_**USERNAME**'.
at SIMS.Processes.Login.GetDatabaseSignature(String username, String password, String module, Boolean encrypt)
       at Matt40k.SIMSBulkImport.SIMSAPI.get_Connect() in c:\Users\Matt\Documents\Visual Studio 2012\Projects\SIMSBulkImport\Release\SIMSBulkImport\SIMSBulkImport\SIMSAPI\Main.cs:line 205
    ClientConnectionId:8eb34bea-d5a6-4dab-aebe-8a63c215c3a6
I am wondering why it says ....SIMSAPI.get_Connect() in c:\Users\Matt\Documents\Visual Studio 2012. The logged in user is not Matt (this is the author's name).

Any help would be greatly appreciated (and save us 3 solid days of manual UDF updating!).

Have you tried v2 - SIMS Bulk Import - Download: Preview - SIMS Bulk Import 2.0.1
It includes support for Windows Auth.

Failing that, can you check you can actually log into SIMS .net using that user \ pass first.

The path refers to a the source code location on my dev machine at home - so I can just open up c:\Users\Matt\Documents\Visual Studio 2012\Projects\SIMSBulkImport\Release\SIMSBulkImpor t\SIMSBulkImport\SIMSAPI\Main.cs and go to line 205 to see where in the logic it's failing.

Thank you. We tried the new version briefly but it wouldn't update UDFs. We've got a holiday now (cool, I know) but will try again next week and post the error.

    Hi Matt,
Thank you for your help so far with this.
We have managed to log in with version 1.7 using an SQL user and we can see the UDFs in the drop down. The problem is that is only allows us to see Text UDFs and we need to be able to change a drop down UDF.

We can log in using version 2. The problem we have here is that it doesn't let us select any UDFs from the drop down. I can't see anything in the log. Is there anything that we can try?

    Many thanks,

    Ian.

Anyone else out there used SIMS Bulk Import Version 2 with UDFs?

Would be a massive time saver.

It's on the list to be fixed\finished. Your not the only one asking, its just a question of finding the time to sit down and finish coding it. I've also got to do the email\telephone overwrite - so you can change the current main\primary contact. eg:

    old.email@gmail.com primary \ main
    becomes
    old.email@gmail.com
    when you import
    new.email@gmail.com primary \ main
