Import Attendance Data into SIMS
In an effort to help all the office staff out in schools where access to SIMS from the class rooms isn't technically feasible (a long list of issues like sims server not on domain, no VLAN options on switches etc...) I have written a program to do registers and dinner choice that only needs access to one folder (writes data to files in there).
I've got the Student/Class lists out of SIMS no problem at all and my program has parsed them in. The issue now is getting the attendance data back into SIMS.
I can't see any kind of importer for attendance other than the OMR reader. Has anyone been able to import data into SIMS using SIMS only?
I'm only after getting a Yes/No into a given session.

If you're at a school, talk to @David_Grashoff about the Business Objects which you could use.
Otherwise i don't think there is an import - but there are plenty of third party companies out there that do attendance so it's not really in their interest to give it away.
Perhaps speak to @rpwillis who can import data into SIMS, not sure if he covers attendance though.

It's probably not what you are looking for, but i just checked and SalamanderSoftware (@rpwillis) can do that for you, well for the school, and would make a good bundled product for them to have, as it can do online reporting including attendance / marksheet writeback.
So it could partner with your tool, if the school had a basic package which would say, create new users and folders when added to SIMS, it could cope with the attendance import requirement and you don't have to worry about the business objects or code for that, or paying Capita a hefty fee for the privilege. They can then use your tool and interface to it for getting the attendance...?
