Sims lesson monitor - late report for period 1

    Hi

I am trying to create a report using Sims.net to list all the pupils who were late for period 1 over a peirod of a week.

We have a day structured period 1,period 2, then registration, then period 3, period 4 and period 5. This means the pupils late to school are listed as late for period 1, rather than the AM/PM mark which is taken during registration.

I have created a report which lists all the pupils with late marks over a set time period (i'm using a week) and it will tell me the pupils with late marks (filtering) and which subject this was for, however I can't figure out how to add the period information to this, ideally I'd like to filter by period 1, however i can do this in Microsoft Excel after running the report.

Is there anyone who can help me either create the report in a different way to achieve the same result, or how to add this element to my report.

    Thanks

    Hi,

Are you running the report to add lates into your AM registration? If so, why not set Lesson Monitor up to copy the P1 mark directly to the AM register?

Having looked throught the Lesson marks options in the report designer I cannot see how you can restrict it to Period 1 only.

Sadly we're not linking P1 into AM reg, as we do with period 5, because we need form tutors to have the ability to take registers during form period, and this is done as AM reg. this is solved in the future by adding the form time as a lesson, but I'm told this would be too much at the moment so I'm trying to work around!

Look at the built in reports for Lesson Monitor under teh reports menu, there is one with periods with certain code. You can filter on Lates and if i recall correctly limit it to a range of periods, but if not Excel could do it later. Or you'll have teh option of XML output if you really want to parse it yourself at runtime.
It usually prints out teh student name, then the date and lesson code + period, then the mark. It includes the totals too.

There were some bugs with it and the counts were wrong a while back but that was fixed.

Thanks for that - i thought i'd been through them all, but finally found it under Reports - Lesson Monitor - Students with selected codes - Periods with chosen codes.

then take from the webpage into excel, only slight annoyance is only listing pupils names once which confuses the pivot table, unless i manually copy the names into each row.

But i can work with this, thanks

I do a formula for that.
Make a column on the left and then let it say if cell to right = '' , use data from above else use cell to right. Tho makes a new column full of names. I think!
    Something like that anyway.

    Press CTRL-G
    Select "Special" then "Blanks"
Enter =A1 (or whatever cell has the first row of data)
    Press CTRL-RETURN

Hey presto, all the blank rows filled

Wow and it automagically picks the next value when it occurs?
    Must try that.
