Default FMS migration - help!! (surprise)

Got through all the preliminary stages of the migration fine, without a single hitch.

Then click Migrate and a lovely message comes up
"Migration has failed to complete successfully"
1. Re-attach an empty SQL server FMS database
2. Review the migration log file
3. Seek assistance from support

The utility seemed to have caused a system exception to do with ODBC. General Error, attempted 2 active database requests..?! This is after examining the migration log.

At one point, before quitting the utility through up a message about login failed for user ccsfms_sysman.

Has anybody seen this, or any idea of what just happened...

and it was going so well....this might be a long day...

Have you contacted Sims about this? And are you using their step by step guide? If not, I believe I still have it somewhere, if you want.

For me the only reason the FMS migration failed the first time round was because there was a user name that had spaces in it, don't know if that'll help.

Wink Thanks for replies

Yes I have been following step by step guide.
Its worked in about 40ish schools no problem
but the above log error is coming up in about 20.
Have had some feedback from capita website suggesting stripping out and reinstalling SQLany server but seemed like a lot of work.

Looking for a quick fix

Re-Run
S:\Setups\FMS\FMSApplicationSetup.exe

The near last page will say where it's installing it to, make sure the files are going to the correct location, THEN delete the fms file (after detaching it) then reattach the new FRESH blank db. Re import, also, if your having trouble with the Anywhere client, get it to run with the background (forgot the exact term) so you can see the actual client (interactive with the background!)

Other then that, contact your LEA and ask them to migrate it.

Didn't see that

Why have you left it soo late? What LEA is that?
Do you have a good internet connect to each school\remote access?

I would try my previous post, key is 1GB ram at least.

Edit:
06/12/2007 12:29:31...System exception: System.Data.Odbc.OdbcException: ERROR [HY000] [Sybase][ODBC Driver]General error: attempted two active database requests

Tis to do with SQL Anywhere rubbish, run the client as interactive with the desktop, your see where it goes wrong. Make sure all the settings are correct.

NEELB in Northern Ireland same for the other 4 education boards here as we are all under one umbrella.
Priorities (rolling out and setting up 30,000 laptops for teachers) meant we weren't given it to do until 3rd week of july!
Did you get this last summer?
Yeah access to machines is good 2 mb lines 8 gig ram in blade servers.

I'll try this again this avo

We've actually only just send it out about a month or so ago. Was rather shock it too this long to get the powers that be, to agree the "new business" project.

Reboot the server and make sure no-one logs onto fms before trying again.

Looks like there might be a data connection that didn't close properly
