    FMS Migration - SA

    Hi there

Just about to do the dbAttach on the FMS migration, and it's asking for the system administrator password....my post during the SIMS migration, suggests I have changed the password from blank...but it's no longer the one i changed it to.

Any ideas about resetting the sa password asap.

    Thanks

I know you have sorted it now, but for future reference.

    o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0

Next time, you can easily get around the problem by logging onto the SQL Server as an Administrator, going to the command prompt and typing:

    osql -E -Q "sp_password NULL, 'newpass', 'sa' "

Which will change the sa password to "newpass". You do not need to know the old password since you are an Administrator on the SQL Server (denoted by the -E flag to use your current credentials, in effect).

Also note you may have to be in the "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$SIMS\Binn" directory to run OSQL if it is not in your normal path.

I have this looming as well - is there a step-by-step guide on how to carry out the FMS migration?

Yeah, it's resource 12887 on SupportNet. The upgrade is easy enough. Waiting for your finance people to reconcile the data and for Capita to release the database patches will be the most time consuming bit.
