Should call it Sim Simma and have an advertising campaign with Beenie Man

Oh dear, that is worrying. I can understand Sharepoint as a need to understand SLG (hopefully with a view to rewriting it without Sharepoint!) but Silverlight is a new low

I seem to remember someone from Capita mentioning Silverlight, may have been in this thread...

    EDIT: it was this thread:

So long as they stick to that, it sounds promising

Pretty much yes, the lead developer for WPF left years ago and its been basically treading water ever since.

Silverlights main use these days is for DRM copy protection apps, its not used for much else.

Wait, what? Silverlight... aren't we moving away from plugins? Even Windows RT blocks plugins right?
    Sheesh.

Silverlight hasn't had a major release for over 2 years! Even Netflix - one of the few major Silverlight users - has announced it is moving to HTML5 for its service.

As I said... no no no no no!

@PhillipHamlyn (Capita) stated earlier in this thread that although they're using Silverlight in the version in NI at the moment, there will be no plugin dependancy by the time of final release: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/mis-sy...ml#post1128013

    vikpaw,

As I said in an earlier post, we are going to convert all our existing Silverlight tech to HTML, thus the usefulness to us of candidates with Silverlight expertise. :-)

Kinda wanna see something like the old Windows ads:
    Ballmer sells windows1.0 - YouTube
Bill Gates & Steve Ballmer Night at the Roxbury theme - YouTube

Sure they'll do wonders for Capita image too. Help destroy that image that they are the enemy, they are the "man" pushing the people down and we the the people must rebel, yer man. It's Friday, may the dots all connect.

More serious note, be good to see a bit of public humor coming out of Capita HQ. Long gone are the days of ASSman and if they do go MSI, so will the Wise installer with it's unwise.exe uninstaller. Be nice if they can include a bit in the new version.

    Matt40k,

Do you know why I called the SIMS7 main applicaiton Pulsar.exe ? Its because the internal name of the product was Super Star, Star being the internal product name of the previous edition. Thus a Pulsar is a Super Star. Geeky but my kind of in-joke.

I'll try and inject some levity :-)
