Question Central SIMSINST not upgraded with Summer release?

    Hi,

I have a few machines that refuse to upgrade over Solus 3 despite everything tried in the book. I normally use the old method of running from the old central installation. This central SIMSINST installation hasn't updated and puts the old version on.

Anyone know how to get this updated? Is there something in Solus 3 Im missing to do this?

    Thanks

SOLUS 3 doesn't update the Setups folder at all, so this folder will be out of date. You could use the old SOLUS 2 upgrade method to upgrade the setups folder!

Like @splatthecat says, Solus3 doesn't update the setups directory so that way of working won't get you sorted anymore.

    2 questions -
    • when you say they won't upgrade over Solus3, have you redeployed the update to the failed workstations from the deployment history screen?
    • do you get any error message when it tries to deploy?

If you want a quickish fix to bypass the current Solus3 issue, copy the SIMS directory from a working machine to the machine which is failing to update and that will get SIMS working on it.

I've got this problem, we have just moved to SIMs, and have 1 laptop that for some reason, when I deploy out the latest Summer 2 version it just quickly says deployed and there is no more updates, yet it stays stuck on the older version.

Am new to this Solus3 so as a quick fix I'll copy a working one over, but next time an update comes out will have to keep doing this for the laptop that is having issues?

I've tried, uninstalling the agent, removing the PC and re-adding back in to the environment, also deleting the SIMs directory. All don't work.

    Cheers.

    Hi

We have had similar problems on my site, give this a try:

    Uninstall Solus 3 on PC
Remove Solus 3 folder from Program Files and ProgramData locations (assuming Windows 7)
Remove PC from Solus 3 server
Re add the PC onto Solus 3
Then wait for everything to redeploy

    HTH
