    Strange SIMS.net error

I have a very strange issue on only two user so far, happened after the time we moved over to new SIMS Server (from 2003 to 2008 R2)

Brand new PC Windows 7 32bit image, logged on as her..run SIMS.net, login as her and get this error:

SIMS Connection failed for Login USERNAME reason 1 - When trying to login to SIMS .net

No other SIMS account can login either under her Windows log in

She has local admin access to the PC, local profile, connect.ini is ok, and S: Drive correctly mapped.

I have tried logging as her on another PC same issues as above

I login as her through an RDS server her login to SIMS work.

Now, if I log into her original problematic PC as either domain admin or another teacher, I could log into SIMS whatever users I use or as her to login)

So it must be a permission issue right? Anyone know any log files in SIMS that could help trouble shoot?

    Thanks as always

Sounds like she has a incorrect connect.ini in her local virtualstore - C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\VirtualStore - just delete it.

Thanks matt40k I learn something everyday, will try this...

Incidentally Capita emailed me back to do this(which I wasn't sure would work...)

    1) Run SQL Management Studio

    2) Click new query and type the following:

    use (Databasename)

    exec sims.db_p_install

    3) When the above finishes processing run the following:

    use (Databasename)

    exec sims.db_p_grant

    4) Once this finishes try the login again.

Silly Capita, they are thinking its a login problem but if her SIMS user account works on any machine, its not that.

Yes indeed, they missed the bit where I said the lady can't log into SIMS only if she logged into Windows as herself, but her SIMS login works if she jumps on a PC that is already logged on as someone else or if she is logged on as an RDS server session

I think help desk didn't type this all in before passing it on to a tech!

Only thing that I'm puzzled though is the connect.ini in the virtual store gets created on first login? so if she logged onto another PC with a new local profile it should work, i think I logged on as her on 2 more PCs at school that she has never used before, and still got reason 1 error...

Anyhow, Solus 3 has been a bit funky anyway when we rolled out with the new server this month, the amount of times connect.ini file does not get pushed, even on a clean install!

    Well I be damned...

After stepping back and taking another look at it, it turns out this lady and another problem user had an old login script that previously pointed to a strange area in Simshare that pointed to another folder with the old connect.ini entry..we did a good tidy up after we updated to the new server and this login script got missed...don't quite know why she worked on RDS though..it used the same redirect as the workstations..that was a bit random!

My bad for missing that !
