I have been testing the new quicksearch - it's pretty cool. Haven't worked out all the extra codes you can use yet but it's like having a command prompt on the homepage :O) Save so much time just having more info to hand, rather than waiting for the whole module to load then finding the info.

    It's gone from this:

    to this:

Would love to have a quick play with this. But to be honest, I'd love even more to be able to install Solus 3 on a server 2012 system >:|

I'm going to install this later as we don't have many days left until the end of term.

    Lets see how it goes

Good rule of thumb: unless you need it now, wait!

    Bound to be a re-release

Upgraded and all good so far.

I don't usually beta test so lets see if we get away with this one

Performance seems to be much better which was the main reason for running it so early! Does anyone know if we still need to run any of the patches or are they included in this new release?

Most general release patches should be included. Especially the performance ones.
I think the SOLUS 2 screen has a list of all fixes. As should the release notes.

According to the release notes, if you already ran the patches, they still stand, but if you didn't and want to, you need new versions.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have applied any of the patches that improve theperformance of the SIMS Home Page (patches 18148, 18170 and 18171) to the SIMS2013 Spring Release, these patches will continue to be in effect when you upgrade to theSIMS 2013 Summer Release.
These patches have been rebuilt and re-published to enable them to be run against theSIMS 2013 Summer Release. If you have not yet applied these patches but wish to do soon the SIMS 2013 Summer Release onwards, please disregard any version of the patchesyou may have downloaded previously and download them again from SOLUS beforeapplying them.

Lots of caveats in the release notes, so worth a read before jumping in, especially if you're running the latest operating systems.
Also note, to use the migration tools to move to SQL 2012, you first need to be on the summer release.

EDIT: Migrating SIMS, FMS and Discover to SQL 2012 mini guide = resource # 21223

Anyone got a link to the ISO download? For some reason the setup folder isn't updating so I have a incompatible databae error on a server which I use for RDP (and Solus 3 messes it up if I install on it)

It's in the news item on SupportNet, but we can't post it here. The above quote is the same item without the links.

I must say it's looking good.
The timeline issue is fixed, which is a massive improvement, but we're changing our days of the week, so been waiting ages for a fix to edit the new academic year!
The read only tick boxes in assessment are a real time save, and did anyone notice a zoom button before? Well that makes a huge difference when fiddling around with and moving columns in the template. +1 :O)
The dot for medical info in the register is really useful, but i still don't see how an administrator can set it for the site, and thus it's a bit rubbish in practise unless you convince the staff to add it manually.
On the bright side, they've finally updated the reporting dictionary to tightly link the medical notes in with the actual event / condition they were written against, so reports will actually show the correct information now when you pull in a sub-report on medical info. That's really great.
    Overall, suitably impressed.

Version 2 is out, but you only need it if you have one of the problems listed or want the extra Staff Module.
