Sims.net 5 or more Achievements in a week Letter

    Hi

I'm trying to create a report that automatically generates a letter for all pupil who have 5 or more achievements in a particular week.

I have no problem creating a report to generate a letter for any pupil with 5 or more achievements, but I cannot find a way to add in the date setting so that it only looks at praises from the past week.

Has anyone got any idea how I can do this. I'd be happy using a ready made template if someone was kind enough to upload one.

    I hope someone can help

    Hi Ieuan,

I've just been playing with this.

I'm guessing/presuming that when you are wanting 'praises from the last week', you don't want to use the 'Date is after' manual prompt, you just want it to to automatically filter on the last five days.

I'm pretty sure that this can't be done directly in the SIMS report, because as you've found there are only certain criteria for dates.

However, if you're willing to look at calling the SIMS report from a batch file or shortcut on your user(s) PC, I think you should be able to achieve it. You would design the report with whatever content you want, including a prompt for the Date. Then get DOS, Powershell or your preferred scripting language to generate last weeks date and pass it into the CommandReporter.

Have a look at Timetables from SIMS and other CommandReporter threads on here for more on running it.

Thanks for that, I'll have a look at the article.

Although at this stage I'm happy to enter the date for last week as Date is after, Date is between, but I cannot see how to put this in as a filter from the student report, with total achievements, or achievement (count).

    Am I missing something simple?

    That's what I knocked up.

Report based on Students, with only "Forname&Surname" in the fields list.
No need to add an Achievements blue sub-report into the field list (though I admit I had one in for the first 20 minutes of my playing).
Add a Filter for Achievements, where number greater than 4
And an 'And' where Date is after 'x'

I've filtered it on year 9 just to speed up the previewing of the report each time I tried something.

Great, just ran that in school and it works perfectly, i didn't realise i could add the date using the right click in that way.

You don't need right-click either; if you click onto the filter you've already made, the toolbar buttons change to allow you to add AND & OR's without right-click.
