That's the laddy. Been happening for years if i recall correctly. On XP and now on Win7. I always just thought it was down to the resolution and don't want to lower mine so put up with it.
Just to add another voice to this, I get this all the time. Really irritating!
Let's hope your engineers can sort it
It always seems to happen to me if I haven't clicked inside the section once already. For instance, open up a template in AM&, then select a column. Then, without clicking on anything else, try to click "Open" in the marksheet section below. This jumps to "Delete" every time on my machine.

Let's hope they can even recreate first, on their perfect setup!
The jump wouldn't be an issue (and a welcome feature if anything) if it didn't delay registering the click until after the jump. Otherwise it becomes unwanted and counter-productive.
Sounds like plenty such as myself were sitting on this bug as "just another SIMS thing" so it has gone unnoticed by the devs.
Those Capita devs have 100" touch screen walls. There is nothing to jump, apart from them off the step ladder they use to access different parts of the screen.
@PhilNeal - playing with it a bit, it seems that what is happening is when you try to click on any part of a panel/section, SIMS automatically scrolls enough to bring the entire panel in to view. As @CAM said, that wouldn't be a problem except it does this before registering the mouse click, causing you to click in the wrong place.
It only seems to do it in places where you have a detail panel on the left with a series of vertical buttons on the right, such as columns and marksheets inside an AM7 template or contacts in Student Details. You'll also notice that a border is drawn around these sections when you click inside them, but not on any button. I'm guessing someone has created a class to handle these types of sections as they're so common in the system; if I were trying to diagnose the problem, I'd be looking straight at that class.
