Moving FMS to a new server

    Hi all,

I use SIMS all the time and gonna be moving it to a new sever next week, no issues or concerns there, however, not moved a FMS install before, anyone got any guides or advise, i would imagine its almost the same?

Yeah, pretty much the same. Just ensure they talk to each other afterwards, for example if fees / personnel data is being sent over. Especially if you've changed server name/ip .

OK thanks for the reply, so i will install SQL express 2008 during the SIMS install, which im 100% confident doing, as have done a few sims sever installs, and then with the FMS, how do i trigger start the sever install? anyone got any notes on doing this?

Yeah - you have to tick both boxes (Server and Workstation install) tell it which instance to use (which you'll have installed with SIMSInst.exe already) then supply the Database from your backup during the install wizard.
