    CC4 SIMS Winter Upgrade \ CC4 Laptops Not Upgrading

    Morning Guys,

    Did the Winter Upgrade just before we broke up and came back expecting RM to have released the CC4 Winter Release Packages but I don't seem to be able to find it anywhere on the RM online support. Am I being blind? Or have they not released them yet? Am I silly to expect them to have released them so soon?

    Also, and the main issue, is the CC4 Laptops aren't upgrading SIMs automatically. I went through all the steps in the RM documentation however they won't upgrade to the newer version unless I log on with Admin rights. Is there an easy fix to this or is upgrading the SIMs clients manually to be expected?!?!

    Generally you don't need an updated package from RM. Export the packages from your server, update the .exe file within with the latest version. Increase the version number of the .ini file and reimport and allocate the packages accordingly. We have since moved to SOLUS3.0 and rolled out successfully both Discover and the Autumn 2012 release of SIMS perfectly.

    If you attempt to run the upgrade on the CC4 laptops as a staff user and wait until it fails, is there anything obvious about software restrictions in the Event Log?

    Also, what OS are you running on the laptops? I've seen some RM servers have incorrect software restriction rules that only affect Windows 7 and stops the upgrade from running. If you are on 7 then check your path rules and make sure that all of your rules starting with %userprofile%\ actually contain the last % - there may be one that just says %userprofile\
