    SIMS and Windows 8

    Hello,

As anyone attempted installing SIMS/FMS on a Windows 8 Pro? I guess it shouldn't be much different to the Windows 7 installation, buy hey ho we all know the installation from SIMS/Win7 wasn't that too different to Vista and we still had problems.

    Regards,
    Paul

I was speaking to Sale Grammar School yesterday - they have SIMS on W8 and apparently "it flies".

    Hi there

I've been running SIMS on Windows 8 in my training environment for a while now with no issues

However, we should be mindful that SIMS on Windows 8 is not officially supported until Spring 2013

    Cheers

    Dave

Phil - I am surprised at you! Its not supported on Windows 8 until the Spring release is what we've been told - hope Sale Grammar don't get any issues that require technical support!

Yes I realised after posting that I'd encouraged people to move prematurely!

One advantage about having a browser-based solution....

    ... and I'm off again.

It's when you start interacting with Office that the fun really begins. Will we still need to do the Verify Template dance every time we change something on Windows 8? That bug has been around since Office 2007!

You get the opposite? Every template I make I have to verify or the tags show instead of data.

Have you tried one of the workarounds, like exit without saving then save on prompt. Or: save, exit, save in sims, open for edit, save, exit, save in sims. (without verify).

I've done a combination of all those things at some point or another. But ever since we left Office 2003 at my last school it was happening, just to find out it happens at my new one too. Office 2007, Office 2010, all have the same bug. Last I heard from the LA it was rather common over the entire borough!
