    ParentPay / SIMS Integration...

    Hi all,

We are looking to integrate ParentPay with SIMS at February half-term.
The people carrying out the work need to integrate their cashless system (Impact) with both SIMS and ParentPay.

They have requested a link from their computer in the school refectory to the school network which will allow them to access SIMS.
This is now in place but wondered if there were any issues I need to be aware of?

Also, where do we stand with data protection? Currently, their cashless system only requires student names, cashless card numbers and year groups which is fed into the system by means of uploading a CSV into the Impact system. I have a slight concern that a computer managed by an external company will be able to see SIMS data.
Am I over analysing this? lol.

    Many thanks,

    Gav

Over analysing, yes but rightly so. The data available would be determined by the permissions provided to the user account that the SIMS integrator will use.

DP will depend on your registration. Most registrations cover use of data on behalf of the data controller by a third party under contract. i.e. when you pay someone to perform a service for you, you are OK to share data with them (data appropriate for the purpose) but you still "control" the data as far as the data subjects rights are concerned.

I would want the company to stipulate their policy regarding use of your data.
The permissions provided to the SIMS account will be key.
Then just beware of them setting up remote access to that machine for support.
