SIMS Solus 3 bypassed for a manual install

    Hi

I have read with great interest the many ups and downs of SIMS, in particular Solus 3, which I have been attempting to use for the past year with varied success.

I've got to the point today where I would just like the ability to go to a workstation that Solus 3 continues to see as 'offline' or 'the remote machine cannot be contacted' and manually install the latest update to SIMS .net.

Is this even possible any more?

    Thanks

    Graeme

The cope out approach is to run SOLUS2 first, so that your setups directory gets updated, then run it via SOLUS3. This basically means you can manually run the .exes.

Personally, it's a tempory measure and you should be looking at resolving the actual issue. I would recommend checking the c:\Program Files\Solus3\AgentService\systemlog.txt on the machines that don't work.

It can't connect back to your server: (morden??)

System.ServiceModel.EndpointNo tFoundException: No DNS entries exist for host morden.

    AKA, you've got DNS issues.

What a surprise, my contractor doesn't see any issues with DNS.... We had a new server infrastructure installed during the Summer and we have countless issues with DNS and DHCP still ongoing and causing headaches for my techies, and me!
