ACL, POSIX and Permissions?
I'm struggling to get my head round ACL, POSIX and Permissions on the Macs, in that I don't quite get which one takes precedence over the other and so on.
For example, if I set an ACL on a folder in 'Server Admin', does that have priority over a POSIX setting, and what if I change the permissions directly on a file within that folder using 'Get Info', does that overwrite the ACL?
Is there a hierarchy of permissions?
The long and short of it all is that I need to find out once and for all, so if someone can explain to me in the most basic of terms, or point me to an idiots guide, I'd find that very useful!
FWIW, we have iMacs running OS 10.5.7 with an xserve for users home drives.
Many thanks in advance :)
