Mac botnet running loose
It appears that there is a mac only botnet in action at the moment. The infection vector was installation of pirated iWork 09 copies downloaded from torrent sites. Details below:

It was Symantec that found it to so it must have been really obvious :D
think it was with ilife09 as well
Some of the comments at the bottom of the article make me want to cry. Is our industry really so full of people who are so immature that they’re still having arguments along the theme of "My dad could beat up your day". I often feel the same when reading the comments section on The Register, its so sad it makes us all look pathetic and you 'know' only some of it is tongue in cheek. :(
Here's hoping that the coming botnet storm which is sure to follow, now that proof of concept has been demonstrated, will cause continued devastation such that Mac and Windows users can unite against the vicious Linux users who program these things in the first place.
Just to clarify, tongue firmly in cheek there.
Most of the trolling is done by good old fanboi's that actually don't have a clue about what they are talking about.
Viruses, malware etc will always be proportionate to market share, why bother going to the trouble of writing a virus which will only infect the a minority, that defeats the point i.e. maximum exposure, maximum damage, maximum profit. As long as Windows is the dominant OS it will be the target for virus writers.
Although I agree in concept many macs don't have anti-virus software on them for the simple fact that there owners think themselves immune, thus this would surely be a consideration of virus writers in the future.
