Images in Word for Mac

One of the teachers here uses Office for Mac at home. When she inserts images into a document (either by copy/paste or insert picture), they seem to be getting compressed somehow - they appear fine on her copmuter, but when she brings the files into school and uses "normal" Office, the images are replaced with a message saying that a QuickTime decompressor is needed.

Is there any way around this? What would be REALLY useful would be a way that we can decompress images in the files which she has already created (preferably by last lesson today!!), but I would settle for a way to stop this from happening in the first place.

If you have a copy of the document and it isn't a confidential one. Upload it to here and i will see what happens at my end. I have access to office 2004 and office 2003 for windows. Its just i don't recall having an issue with the 2 versions when we ran them together here.

PS. What happens if you open it in Pages?

I don't have a copy of any files to hand, but could possibly get one. I'm not sure what version she is using, but again can find out - likely to be a fairly new one, as she's only had the Mac for less than a year I think. She does say that it used to be fine until a recent update to QuickTime.

What is Pages?

Pages is OS X alternative version of Word. It comes with iWork. You can get a demo version off their site for 30 days.

This may be able to import the document correctly and then export the document in the correct manner.

You could also download Open Office 3 for OS X and avoid all the nastiness completely if you run Open Office for Windows at the workplace.

No, she hasn't tried it in Pages, like I said, she was using Office for Mac. I know that she also has Open Office, as we do in school now too (largely for her benefit!), so I will suggest she use that instead. Thanks, HodgeHi.

We've had this - its to do with TIFF decompression. Try updating QuickTime to the latest version on the Windows box.

We're currently on QT7.5 so I'll try upgrading a PC and see how I get on, thanks...

Attached is an example of what happens - I am told that the image which isn't appearing was a cut-and-paste from a PDF file. This is from a ppt file, which I can't upload on here - I can try and get hold of a doc if it would help anyone.

I have just downloaded the latest version of QT to my Windows (Vista) box, and I still get the same error as our other PCs.

Most of the answers i have found seem to suggest that the file in question (picture?) cannot be found and so you end up with a message similar to this.

It sounds to me that the user needs to bundle the image along with the powerpoint file so it can find the image when viewed. This is what is suggested on MS site when it is a video.
