What's your browser?
Hello,
We're starting to get some really irritating issues with Safari and FireFox 3 on our Macs with network home directories (roaming profiles, if you like).
Safari usually likes to crash on launch, which I understand is a known problem, although the latest 3.2.1 update doesn't fix this too well last time I checked. Our default browser on our Macs is FireFox3. This writes parentlock files when it is opened, and deletes them when you close the app. If the app crashes or a child re-launches FFox before it's deleted the lock file, it tells us that the application is already running. We have set up a login script to delete the file, but if a kid gets a problem during their session, they have to run this script manually to delete it. It's a pain.
I'm about to look in to a new browser such as Camino, but I thought I would get your views on your best Mac browsers on your networks....
:confused::confused::confused:

I use Firefox on my mac, but that isn't joined to a domain etc...
On the macs used by kids, we use Camino. Seems stable, easy to use and the kids don't seem to have many problems with it.

Chrome and FFox3 both seem pretty good to me, a few glitches here and there but nothing major.

I haven't tested Camino properly, but I like the way it uses the system proxy without by default. Do you know if there is away to force the home page to something other than the camino start page? I'm tinkering with some prefs but I haven't found where to make them default, or part of the app!

Mine pulls mine from the same prefs as Safari, but you have to have it set in Safari first. There is also a plist for it that I found on the Camino support pages ... can't find where now though. I'll see if I can pop up to AT Computers tomorrow and get them to dig out an answer.
