iMac 24 - Broken SuperDrive

Hi Guys,

Does anyone have a SuperDrive I can buy off them? Mine seems to have broken and despite reading and writing to DVD it does not recognise blank CD media - yet it plays CD media. I've searched Google for hours looking for a solution but the only one out there seems to be replacing the drive.

A quick look at some videos shows the procedure is reasonably easy to do. I'm happy to do it. Has anyone here done it?

Where do you guys get their spares from?

Have you tried a different brand of CD media? Sounds to me like the drive doesn't like the particular brand you're using.

It used to.

I doubt the ML update did anything. Did it?

It may have done. Some of their updates have done strange things with some of the Macs i've come across.

Apple os updates can contain firmware updates that could easily account for this.
