802.11ac and Apple adopting this in the airport extreme range ?

Just seeing all the forum posts / rumours regards to 802.11ac and wondering if this will be another announcement shortly after the iPad 3 ??

    Any ideas / thoughts ?

Also what else is meant to be on the iPad 3 ?

Rest assured all vendors are looking to implement 11.ac as quickly as possible, this jump is inevitable and will be consumer driven.

Source Computer World, Mobile World Congress in Barcelona today,

"We think 11ac will be adopted much faster than 11n was," he said. One reason for that is the expected fast adoption of 11ac in a wide range of client devices, including the fast growing markets for smartphones, tablets and increasingly for consumer electronics like digital tv's.

Apple are undoubtedly one of the worlds leaders in media technology and as such I think it's safe to say we will see 11.ac in Apple kit sooner rather than later!

I think 3 weeks is a bit premature more like Q4 this year, although it looks like implementation of the chipset can be done without changing the networking components so introducing 5g wifi into existing 5Ghz capable devices could possibly be achieved without major production changes thus further accelerating adoption.

    5G WiFi - 802.11ac The Standard for 5G WiFi

Important note, iPads (as does other 5Ghz capable Mac kit) will default to A/N if it can but do so using a single spatial stream which would limit them to 130mbps
To fully benefit from 11.ac these devices will need multiple antennas so look out for these clues when the iPad 3 pcb images are leaked on the interweb...
