I've basically printed them out small guide with instructions on how to save to the network etc. They seemed happy with it so i'll just see what happens. Hopefully i'm going to the RM Autumn round of Tech Seminars and there's an apple related session there - maybe i'll give this problem a poke there if I can go.

I have only ever been to one but I must say it was really quite helpful with our AD/OD integration with our macs. Have you seen the 'session list' for this round of seminars? Looks quite interesting. RM Technical Seminars Autumn 2011
Admittedly the only apple related session there is about implementing IOS devices but we have already received requests for ipads and it probably won't be too long before we get some for iphones.
