Mac Server - Invalid IP Address

Im trying to intergrate our mac server with our windows network..when i try and change the open directoy to master i get the follwowing error:

"single sign-on will not be enabled for your new open directory master because your networks DNS server does not provide forward and reverse mappings for your servers domain name, or becuase Single sign-on is already configured"

so i tried terminal- sudo changeip checkhostname - this returns "invalid Ip Address"

i have checked out DNSserver and the mac server has the correct entires.

THe only starnge thin i can see is the mac server for DNS is turned on and it wont let me turn it off

    i have MAC OS X Server 10.6.4

Resolved the Ip Address issues - the old dns entries still existed on the local dns service - Removed the DNS servcie from the mac server, but still getting

"single sign-on will not be enabled for your new open directory master because your networks DNS server does not provide forward and reverse mappings for your servers domain name, or becuase Single sign-on is already configured

To Resolve this issue, close the assistant and correct your DNS or Single sign-On configuration. To Learn more refer to the open directory administration guide.

to configure your open directory master without single sign-on click continue
