I can't get my mac talking to my exchange server via mac mail.
I run through the wizard and I enter the incomming/outgoing exchange servers "mail.school.gov.uk" but neither incomming or outgoing servers are reachable.
In fact the New Account setup process just hangs after entering the "outgoing" mail server details.
Has anyone any pointers, I have no clue about osx
cheers
Si

Re: Exchange 2003 + Mac Mail
Have you tried just putting the IP in?

Does Mac Mail support Exchange natively or are you using POP or IMAP on the Exchange server?

Tried just ip and netbios name of server.
Mac network tools will ping the exchange box with no problem.
Mac mail says it supports Exchange natively - but hey it dont for me.

If you are using POP3/IMAP... make sure that you have enabled the services (they are disabled by default).

I think Ric has nailed it. To get decent Exchange support with Apple Mail, enable the IMAP service and configure your apple client to connect to the exchange server using SMTP and IMAP. This will give you an email experience as close to that of Windows/Outlook as is possible.

Outlook Web Access can be integrated into Entourage. A lot of the functionality of Outlook is removed from Entourage, using the HTTP mail system; some of the missing features would be available, HTTP would seem a good way to implement the system. The user would be able to receive their emails wherever they were, via the web interface on a Windows system, and still be able to view the emails that they have already received.
