    Looks cool

I take his point about maintenance and sending things back through Indian call centers to Poland!!

Its the future, just a little too costly right now.

Hmmmm, we'd only need 74k to kit out our 6th form......

Very interesting... but it didn't ask the questions I'd need answering about web filtering, connecting it to the school network, backups...

We'd only need around 500k to give them to all our kids. Then an extra 15k to make our wireless LAN more dense to support them.

    Seems like a bargain...

We’re 106 pupils from ages five to 17

We had desktops and laptops, but we only had about 25 machines for the whole school

    It is a fee-paying school
Well that was a pretty pointless article. I'd guess the average secondary school is around 800-900 place with 250+ desktops so you can't make any comparisons. Thanks PC Pro [for reminding me why I stopped buying your magazine when I was 16]

My part time boss bought one a couple of weeks ago and promptly sent it back as it does not come with native printing ability. What's the point of anything that can't print.

People don't print as much as you'd think...

You have to think about personal security as well.

I'm not sure I would want all our boys walking down the street with very expensive piece of equipment in all their bags.

I've just read through his blog and i can see the attraction on the idea. Our Headmaster keeps muttering about giving our 6th Form laptops/netbooks but i think the iPad could be a better option. Our lack of Mac knowledge is the only down side, just setting up our first Mac suite and it's not been without it's problems.
