Blog Entries: 1 Rep Power: 35 | Well, I and some others tend to disagree User intervention is required and not everything is as rosey as fanboys make out; the only reason I can see for this is so they can re-assure themselves that it does work after they've paid a fortune for a fashion accessory. |

Rep Power: 0 | As with most things, unfortunately, sensible, logical, intelligent people are in the minority... I do agree that they are shiny and would happily buy Mac hardware (it's all te same generic x86 crap) - install XP and freak out any fanboys that come near my useful computer. Have Apple seen Peep Show? I understand that being an unemployed, drug-taking, failed musician is 'cool' - but surely these people have no money? I'd rather be David Mitchell any day |

Blog Entries: 1 Rep Power: 50 | I like Apple kit ... I like Apple OSes (System 6 ... bring back System 6). I find they work very well and very easily for me. I also like XP, W2K Pro ... even NT4 wasn't too bad. I found DOS 6.22 quite ok. Solaris 2.6 is how I got into Unix ... and SuSE 6/7, then Red Hat of various flavours. I even like Vista and will probably find enough ways of making it do what I want. For me, the look and feel of Apple Kit and Apple OSes win out every time ... I find it just works with less problems other than things like websites that only want to work with IE, or software that is not cross platform ... and for that I now either use Parellels or Boot Camp. I know there are those that think they are a waste of money and yet another company that ties you in to hardware or proprietary software ... but for me they work ... and I do find that for a good number of students it is the same. But most people here know my preference ... I use what is appropriate but will tend towards a Mac running MacOS ... but failing that it would be a Mac running XP. |

Rep Power: 25 | I don't want any Caks, sorry Macs near my network. Funny thing is I get asked questions about them every other day from the kids / staff etc - most of the questions are based on: " You know XYZ software that runs on Windows ? " " Yes " I reply " Do you know anything like it which will run on my Cak ? " Or " Know any good games which will run on my Cak ? " |

Rep Power: 9 | CyberNerd: I was talking strictly about hardware there. webman: I kind of agree. I had trouble last time I used Linux (admittedly a few years ago) because it didn't support USB mice. The trouble with Linux is it takes a lot longer to get support for some things. Sure if I was a progrmmer I'd love it. Besides, isn't this a Mac vs Vista thread, nothing to do with Linux lol (yeh it's easier to fight Apple) |

Fast User switching was in XP before it was in OSX I think Widgets --> Can trace these back to at least IE 4.0's active desktop There is very little new and original in computing. Can we please concentrate on solving the problem instead of endless discussion of what manufacturer's name is branded on the handle of the screwdriver you're trying to solve the problem with? | ||
