OSX Server 10.5 (Leopard), where can you purchase it from?
Hello again,
I have an Xserve G5 (PPC), which is currently running OSX Server 10.4 (Tiger). It needs an upgrade but snow Leopard is incompatible with PowerPC chips, and you seemingly cannot purchase Server OSX 10.5 anywhere. Actually tell a lie, I did get passed onto an Apple back catalogue place, but they wanted over £500 (it was under £200 new).
Any recommendations?
Anybody have any unused copies that my college can purchase/have? Obviously all above board!
Cheers

30th June 2010, 01:09 PM #2 We may have a copy of Leopard Server available after the summer, if that's not too late for you.
I'll have to contact our bursar for permission though, as we don't often sell old equipment/licenses on - most things are run in to the ground, as I'm sure you can imagine!

14th July 2010, 10:52 AM #4 We buy a lot of licenses from Pugh Computers.. could try there?
Or you could try Equanet, who are a fairly good Apple Reseller. (equanet.co.uk)

14th July 2010, 10:57 AM #5 I remember asking Apple this question a couple of months back due to a friend needing a copy for his PowerPC based Mac and they basically said that eBay (or similar) was the best bet as they don't supply it anymore, and that you may find the odd reseller who still have some copies available, but technically it's not available new anymore so it's just a case of probing around and seeing if anyone has a copy (or number of copies) they can sell you.

Thanks for the info. I have used Pugh computers before, so I may enquire.
I have also received quotes from Equanet (for the 1st time) this month on software volume licensing, and a new apple suite. However they were way off the mark with their pricing, so I don't think I will be passing them any quotations in the near future. (Although rumours have it that they maybe folding soon, despite their PC World backing, you didn't hear that from me!).
