good paint program for mac os x

hello all i have a shiney new mac, was using paint.net on my windows pc and thought i wanna do this in mac see what its like, did a bit of searching and came across GIMP, I understand this is not a program to actually "paint" in but more of a manipulation program which is fine, can anyone recommend or tell me which is the best free paint.net like alternative for mac?

There's a list of the top free ones here: Free Photo Editors for Macintosh - Top Picks Another list of very cheap ones here: Budget Photo Editors for Macintosh - Top Picks and a link to the free download of Google Picassa here: Picasa 3: Free download from Google

Seashore looks pretty good if you want something simple and free, but you might as well give them all a go.

    Enjoy

Like most Mac software you're not going to get anything decent for free. Apart from GIMP, I would say the closest thing would be Acorn since this is still usable once the trial has expired.

Pixelmator is really good too and is often discounted. You can still get 20% off by using the code SMOKINGAPPLES.

Just thought I would mention that MacUpdate have Pixelmator for $29.99 (~£20) this weekend. It normally sells for $59 (~£40) so this is a really good deal.

    How about Paintbrush or Macpaint?
