Hi,
We have quite a few iMacs, around 60 in total and they all have the same problem with Premiere CS3.
Whenever you capture footage from a DV cam the audio and video are out of sync. We have tried quite a few cameras and have even bought a new Sony DCR-HC51 to try but it has the same problem. It will capture fine with iMovie though with no sync issues.
Our users would like to be able to use just premiere to capture and edit the footage, so capturing with iMovie then opening with Premiere is too hard for them to understand.
Can anyone shed any light on this problem?
iMac 7.1 2.0ghz
Adobe CS3 3.2.0 part of the Master Collection.
Thanks
Michael

8th December 2009, 10:40 AM #2 It's been a long time since I did any work with Premiere, and even then it wasn't the Mac version, however I do know if the drives that were being recorded to weren't fast enough Premiere would drop frames which would mean the video and audio would start to go out of sync and gradually get worse.
I was working with broadcast quality recordings, so that meant we had to have 5 striped fast SCSI drives just for the video!

16th December 2009, 01:26 PM #5 Indeed - no such issues here capturing 1080i HDV format to Premiere CS3.2 on iMac A1224 series (which I think is 7.1 gen)... works perfectly every time. Not a clue what could cause your issues I'm afraid...

We have this same issue, iMovies and Final Cut Express import fine. I have this feeling it has something to do with whether audio is monitored whilst recording; I am going to check today when I get down to the suite.
Edit: It appears to be due to the pre-roll being set to 2 seconds; I'll post back if the problem occurs again!
