How do I get Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac to open documents created and saved using StarOffice?

There is no ODF plugin for Office on Mac yet.
Best bet is to install OpenOffice on the Mac or save the file as .doc in StarOffice

btw, OpenOffice 3 (which is currently in Beta) will read/write Office2007/8 XML files

So it may be worth upgrading the StarOffice to OOOv3 soon

Unfortunately that's not my call, it's installed in another school which we have some shared students of for this Creative Media Dimploma.

Oh the other school is under BSF and coincidentally Sun have the contract here...
