I have a mac network and I use Workgroup manager to manage the desktop etc and many users have background images on the macs and when logging on to the it slows them right down is there anyway in which I can disable students putting backgrounds on and also students that already have backgrounds is there anyway in which I can automatically remove them?
we force the desktop here by setting the desktop on our admin system then copying the correct plist into workgroup manager, cant remember exactly how to do it without being in front of the screen, getting very rusty on that side of things with more window boxes creeping into our network
although the biggest increase in speed you'll get is by creating a little script to redirect the users ~/library/cache to the local drive.
Thanks for the information but I am very new to a mac network and also the use of macs so I need as many details as possible really, by doing what you said above I would not know where to start but thanks for the help![]()
