22nd August 2008, 08:31 AM #1 Cannot install Photoshop Elements
We recently got in a load of macbooks that have been setup to bind to AD etc and they have all been built off the same disc image, one of the software titles they need is Adobe Photoshop Elements (was given this after the image was built grrrrr!); on all but one it installs fine and runs.
On the problem machine you try and run setup, the jumping icon appears in teh dock as you'd expect; you get prompted for the Administrator password which was soon as you enter it the setup icon in the dock just vanishes.. and then nothing.
Any ideas? My Mac knowledge is pretty limited to be honest.
Thanks

22nd August 2008, 08:47 AM #2 disk util and updates
use disk util which is in applications --> utils to repair disk permissions and then go to the apple icon at the top left and do software update... make sure there aren't any updates.
Also what version of photo shop elements is it ( am presuming the intel version as apposed to the ppc version ) not sure if they made one for ppc but just double checking.

26th August 2008, 10:43 AM #7 I repaired the permissions and ran a software update but still have the same problem unfortunately
Any other ideas as I really dont want to reimage if at all possible as they were all bound to the AD and setup in Workgroup Manager (which I don't know a great deal about!) after the image was restored to each.
Thanks

26th August 2008, 11:20 AM #8 un join ?
If it is currently joined to both - are you using an account that has AD admin permissions or OD admin permissions or are you logging in as the local admin on that machine ?
What you could do is un join it from both OD and AD and then reboot and then log back on as local admin , install what you need to and then re join it to both.

26th August 2008, 12:47 PM #9 I am logging in with a local admin account onto the macbooks, used the same login on all the machines.
I will give that a go and get back to you. Whats really annoying is you dont get any error message the bouncing setup icon just vanishes out of the dock.. run setup again, put the password in and it vanishes!
