...putting Vista onto an iMac?
I know this is probably considered a lynch-worthy idea amoungst Mac enthusiasts, but I was just curious!
Also, anyone dealt with putting XP Pro on a Mac? I know our regional-coordinator has done this (though I had to wonder why!), any real problems in doing this?
Cheers guys!
Pete

Under Leopard Vista should be ok on the Intel based macs...
I know one or two Art teachers here have Vista running in Parallels, but not under bootcamp (they haven't tried)
We've rolled XP out to all our iMacs using bootcamp and all the devices and drivers are working happily.

Reason: added parallels

21st February 2008, 03:43 PM #5 I have managed to install Vista on a MacBook Pro and all worked fine. Its more than powerful enough to coupe with the demand.

21st February 2008, 03:48 PM #6 I installed Vista on my iMac in bootcamp a while ago. Worked fine, but I had no use for it so it got the chop.

Sheesh ... try and take a few days off to catch up with RL and all you get is people screaming for me.
Yes, I run Vista on my MacBookPro and it is roughly 50/50 between Leopard and Vista.
Ross2k5 has published a number of good articles, one of which discusses deploying XP / Vista onto Intel Macs.
It works ... it works well and the only thing that I have found that breaks it is running certain games (The Sims 2 will kill it at least once an evening). It is ok on Mac Minis but I would not run it as Vista as the OS of choice. I only boot my Mac Mini into Vista when I really, really need to (usually for testing or when the MBP is busy on something).
My wife runs her Mac Mini under XP 70% of the time at the moment and she doesn't really notice any problems, she just wishes she could have a Mac at work to give her the option of XP or OS X.
(Please note the the choice of OS is of personal preference, based on experience of using a variety of OS and selecting the appropriate system for particular situations. YMMV and the personal choice of others is not an excuse for OS Wars, flames, snide comments, etc. Please respect the *informed* choices of others)
I think that serves as a useful disclaimer.

Hi!
I have installed Vista Ultimate on a Macbook (2Gb) and Macbook Pro (3Gb) ran extremely well under Bootcamp.
Also installed it under parallels, again works fine but no Aero.
