With Meraki, to my knowledge, Yes.
I don't have any iPads here but I beleive @alexbillbridgnorth is your man for iPads!
For those that use the Meraki MDM, can you explain something. If I push out a free app to all our iPad carts, do I then have to go login to each iPad with our AppleID for that app to come through?
Yes unfortunatley you do, it's a limitation of the Bas%!£$ things! Even with Profile Manager Well done Apple real seamless experience!!!
Alex looooooves iPads you see!
Some of mine sync automatically but not sure how. I think its because the sync apps is enabled and I use the same iTunes account.
Does for some and not for others though.. and it messes up the VPP codes.
If you're planning iPad/iOS deployment right now, i'd say hang fire for a few weeks for 7.1 to be released. There's apparently a major revision for MDM and app deployment within 7.1.
For silent installation of apps you need to you need to make sure to have linked your VPP with the MDM you are using and invited each iPad with an Apple I.D. to enrol.
As long as they are each signed into the App using each iPads Apple ID, and have automatic downloads or are supervised turned on this will work.
I've literally done this so far with all sort's of MDM'S being used in loads of schools.
You seem to have more problems with iPads than anyone else I see on here, I would suggest you get some advice from someone who knows what they are doing
Am I right in thinking (after messing with this for a while) that you can't push a profile to an iDevice unless it is 'supervised' and the only way to get it 'supervised' is to use the Apple Configurator, which is only available on OSX?
I was told by another Tech coord that if you turn on automatic app downloads, it'll work as advertised. However, how does Meraki know which account to send it to?
I have had Apple, AT Computer's, Stormfront all helping me at some point! It's fine if you're in a 1:1 environment MDM works fine but not when you're sharing with one Apple ID! I have an email from Apple US confirming this is not available to do which has been uploaded to edugeek! Before you start dictating to me what I should do, first find out what I've been doing before then you can say! In regards to your UK comment I have had over 8 technicians on the phone to me at once and had 2 different technicians actually visit our school to see what is going on so that is not true either.
They're now managed through Apple Configurator, it still angers me how some people on here criticise my technical knowledge towards iPads and Apple kit when I know more than enough it's my management that tell me to implement it in an impossible way which seems simple to do but Apple won't allow it, Apple need to give more freedom to consumers using the devices and create an easy to use management system which dosen't have problems, not because I should have seeked help.
