TS gateway and USB serial ports

I am considering getting another mac but?

How do you connect to a machine via TS gateway using a mac?

Also how do you connect a USB serial port to a mac for setting up swtiches?

Is putty available for the mac?

    Howdo..

Right, for TS you can make use of the Microsoft Remote Desktop program (I certainly have no difficulties in connecting to our servers etc as and when I need - Remote Desktop Connection Client for Mac | Office For Mac)

USB Serial Port, AFAIK, it connects up ok, but you may have to find some software to use it sensibly. I've never done it so hopefully someone else can be more sure and give actual advice on that one.

Putty .. what are you wanting to use Putty for? Is it SSH connections and the such? As you can simply use terminal for most jobs - it's what I use for when I'm connecting to SSH and the like via mine.

Hope that garbled mess is of some coherent use .. lol ..

I believe that connecting to a client via TS gateway is unsupported. I keen to own a mac laptop but I want to be able to connected to work with out having to run a Windows VM. Also what is the best VM software to run on a mac?

    By using iTap RDP Introduction

I've looked at this a lot and afaik it is the only software which supports a RDgateway

we use iTAP for some of our users who have either Linux or Mac computers at home and it works great with our 2008R2 TS gateway. Ive used it from Linux and our business manager has a mac at home and she uses it no problems.
    its about 24 i think

For VM on you Mac you have a choice of 3 main ones. Parallels, VMWare Fusion and VirtualBox.

Now, personally I use Parallels, but that was because I got it before VirtualBox (which is free) became as stable as it is today on OSX. So these days, I tend to recommend VirtualBox for a VM on OSX. It's stable, it's got loads of options and just seems to work well.

Fusion is one that I've never tried myself so I couldn't speak for, but it's the main contender for Parallels in the paid format.
