    Websites down / seriously slow?

    Typical isn't it? Schools closed (snow), and the websites either fried, or down because of a bit of extra traffic. I thought these were supposed to be hosted on dark fibre connections for max bandwidth and resilience? Not impressed today!

    Ours was down today for an hour and last time it snowed it went down for 3hrs, NOT inpressed. If that were a comercial site, the owner would be seeking compensation, thats if it went down. It's barmy that such an inportant system, is so.... crap.

    We host our own web server, which is working fine, but I've just had to come in to reset the wobbly home-style ADSL modem that we use for connectivity.

    We host our own site which went down yesterday morning because it was getting hammered.
    As soon the school actually decided to close and the notice went onto the site then all the traffic dropped off. It had been going for nearly a year without a crash up until yesterday.

    It's been reported as a "Major Incident" on the Synetrix console pages... but no updates whatsoever for 9 hours. Our website is completely offline again as well. Excellent timing, as we are closed tomorrow as well, and we have directed everyone to the website for info on the snow closures!

    Ours did go down again early evening but is back up now.

    Our Synetrix hosted website is down (again). According to this site there are a whopping 598 domains hosted on the same web server as ours. Hosting our own site is fast becoming a better looking idea (especially as we're getting it in the neck over the past few days because of people percieving the outages to be our fault)...

    Mine says it co-hosted with 419 others - I hope its just the IP address they are sharing and not the same 1.3 Celeron
