...Today Google has added 20 more museums, 1,500 new high-resolution artworks and 16 Gigapixel images to the project...

What I find interesting is that of the 157 works for the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, only 8 are hanging on the walls. I know the gallery has a huge collection that never sees the light of day. You can arrange to view a work, but selecting a painting from a list is very hit a miss. It looks to be the same for the Art Gallery of South Australia too, so I assume it to be the case for all galleries. It's nice that they are going into the archives.
