For Your Historians: British Army War Diaries Online

Link 1: British Army war diaries 1914-1922 | The National Archives

These records are the war diaries of the first three cavalry and the first seven infantry divisions of the British Army in the First World War. They are part of a large series of records, WO 95, which contains many more diaries that have not yet been digitised...
You can search the records in Discovery, our catalogue, by filling in the form below.

Please note, your results will show all instances of the term(s) you searched for within the record descriptions, as this is currently a keyword search.

If you search only by regiment, your search results will include all the battalions in that regiment.

You do not need to include the word 'regiment', 'battalion' or 'brigade'. For example, to search for a battalion in the Northumberland Regiment, you need only search using the word 'Northumberland'.

Searching is free, but there may be a charge to download documents.
    Link 2: Operation War Diary

The story of the British Army on the Western Front during the First World War is waiting to be discovered in 1.5 million pages of unit war diaries. We need your help to reveal the stories of those who fought in the global conflict that shaped the world we live in today.

I heard about this on Radio 4 this morning. It should be interesting, especially as an ex-squaddie.
