If I were to purchase PCs without an OS is there a cheap way to get them through Microsoft?
I already have open value sub but as we know it is only an upgrade licence.
In my case 67 PCs (just spit balling ideas probably better just to get a PC with an OS)
It is. All volume licenses are upgrades, so you will definitely need to buy the PCs with Windows already on them. You could save a bit of money by getting Windows 7 Home Premium instead of Professional however.Quote:

The only time you won't is if you have existing machines that have OEM licenses on that are transferable licenses - if you are getting rid of the old PC's you can transfer the license from the old PC's to the new ones and then use your volume licensing to upgrade to the OS you require.
It can be a minefield......

This is correct. OEM Live and die with the machine so you would have to buy 67 versions of an OS to put on before upgrading. @Arthur is right though, you can buy Home Premium to make is cheaper :)Quote:

Also just to add, the OEM license lives with the motherboard not the case. I have seen people build new machines but keep old cases just for the oem license.

Does this mean that for my custom build computer and using an oem windows, that i can not upgrade the motherboard?
or replace it if a onboard fault occurs?
