How much for SIMS licence - academy
I have seen a number of posts about the costs charged by Capita to LA schools if they convert to Academy Status.
The figure that has been mentioned seems to be about £20,000
Can anyone explain how this figure is arrived at ?
Does this cover all modules and is this an annual charge i.e £20,000

If the school has ever purchased a license in its own name (even 25 years ago) then you can transfer the license to the new company.
The license charge is on top of the annual charge as far as I am aware, as to how much your annual charge and license charge is, that depends on the modules you own/ use. The more modules the more cost.
Recently there was a post regarding license transfer and EU law butnoone has ever challenged it in the UK.

This is something you'd really need to ask Captia. Ultimately, with regards to how their charges are arrived at, if they have the right to charge you for a new licence at all then they have the right to charge you whatever they like. It's their product, they set the price. You of course equally have the right to point at them with one hand and laugh while dialling the phone number of a competitor with the other hand.

We recently came up against this problem as we converted over to Academy status. As Achandler rightly states Capita can transfer an exiting licence if you can prove to them you already own one.
Otherwise the costing we were given for 1200 students was a once off fee @ £11,020 plus an annual maintenance charge of £7,000
