I need about 45 RM CC4 licenses and they are quoting me at £85 per client! and on top of that £35 for the MS Office Licenses...
Surely this is daylight robbery?
Is there anyway that I can get them to reduce the price? Its ridiculous![]()

It sure is and why I hold a thing against RM........
All the same as I understand it includes aditional software on the PC (AV ect) but then again haven't been at a RM school in 2 years and are loving basic Microsoft lic costs![]()
Lets not turn this into yet another bashing thread. It's not constructive. :-)
If the license includes bits of software which we dont require surely I can ask for it to be removed thus reducing the license cost?
The school have bought 45 laptops elsewhere but require the CC4 client licenses so that i can build them onto the CC4 network. Time to put on my bargaining hat and see what i can do
How to Remove RM CC4 Front End off Windows Clients - (without having to reinstall OS)
I have come across lots of people asking "Is it possible to uninstall RM CC3/4 off my clients without Reinstalling the Operating System", a lot of the forums out there advise - The only way is to do a fresh install of the OS on the client!
Facing this problem ourselves recently on a network, where the school could not afford the annual maintenance contract of RM, and wanted to remove this off their network, we figured it out!
By dissabling a few Services, removing 2 Programs, and running two scripts you are able to remove the RM front end from Clients without having to completely reinstall the OS, Saving time and $$.

iCT4 Forum | Removing RM CC4 on Windows XP

Why on earth spend any time trying to remove things like that.
1. Just format/reimage the bloody thing...
2. That £85 also includes the relevant license to connect the station to the server ala a CAL. Without it, you'd need to get a CAL for Windows server anyway...
3. Complaining about £35 for an Office Pro license? That really isn't exactly extortionate...![]()
RM do a cheaper licence cost that excludes the RM tutor part - if your just installing within an office for example and don't need tutor then ask for a (I think level 1 licence)
not listed on the website any more Community Connect Client Licences but they def do one as i have a fair few
Dont use tutor anywhere except for within ICT suites, so was pointless buying licences for it. Wasnt a massive reduction but every little helps.
