New School, New Licensing, New Everything!!

    Hello,

So I've got a new school that's just been built and im looking at what needs to be done before it opens, im aware the infrastructure needs installing, servers, cabling, VOIP etc, what im wondering Is what policies needs creating? and what licensing needs buying?

I am aware of the AUP, Disaster Recovery Policy, E-safety policy and I am aware that they would need the major software i.e Site licensing for office, server, windows. incident management software, anti virus, encryption.

I'm sure im missing loads any information welcome!

P.s. I'm going to do the ITIL Foundation certification.

What a brilliant place to start.
Creating documents from a clean installation!
    Disaster Recovery policy?
    backup policy?

I personally like to make a handbook/guide. I print out server specs, switch configs, a copy of the admin passwords, type up all the shares/dfs locations, keep a copy of policies with it, put a floor layout in it, with all the network diagrams in - and then its locked away.

Make sure you're constantly bugging people about getting internet access in, easy to get delayed/lost/turns out BT don't have space capacity and you'll have to wait a month, etc

    * 2 and by that I mean make two copies of the handbook and keep them seperately where you know they are. Also make sure that any kit has the warranty details tucked away in here as well as renewal dates for things like AV/MS......
